Student funding, procurement apprenticeships, and other training opportunities

28 February 2018      Matt Sisson, Projects and Membership Manager

We don’t assume that we have a monopoly on good training in Higher Education, although we do prefer for your delegate fee to stay within the sector, one way or another. There are a number of opportunities presented by other sector organisations that you might be interested in.

Firstly, the National Association of Student Money Advisers is running an introductory course on Student Funding that is an excellent fit for those new to HE and the funding system, or with specific student funding responsibilities. The course is next Wednesday (March 7th) at Leeds Beckett University, and will look at Eligibility criteria for funding accessed via SFE, Student loan repayments, EU students/migrant workers, other funds and bursaries, and other topics. For more information and to book, visit the NASMA website here. If you have any questions, contact Catherine Pickles, NASMA Office Manager, on 0113 212 3503.

Secondly, NEUPC has recently been appointed to the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP) as a supporting provider. This means that it can continue to act as a subcontractor to main apprenticeship providers but, instead of being limited to just 12, they can now take in the region of 50 apprentices. This is great news for the sector, which does face a procurement skills shortage. NEUPC is also a CIPS-approved study centre, and delivers a range of CIPS accredited courses. You can find more information on the website. Or contact Debbie Shore, CIPS centre manager at d.shore@leeds.ac.uk.

Last but not least, the majority of Universities benefit from being members of the Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges (EAUC), and enjoy a range of benefits as a result, including access to the comprehensive training and events programme. Full information is here, however procurement professionals may be particularly interested in some recent webinars around the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Accord.  The events cover what it is, how to communicate information to senior teams, and what you can do to support the Accord once signed. For further information on the EAUC or how they can help you click here or  get in touch
