Lots of counter-fraud connections made in Edinburgh...

07 February 2018      Matt Sisson, Projects and Membership Manager

This week 30 delegates headed to Edinburgh for the first of the Making Counter-Fraud Connections events. We heard two excellent case studies from colleagues at both the University of Edinburgh and the University of the West of Scotland on how they’ve tackled challenges and embedded best-practice within their own institutions, and how they’ve worked with colleagues from across professional services. There was also an insightful update from Keith Read on changes to Anti-Money Laundering regulations and implications for universities from the Criminal Finances Act, as well as lots of time for discussions and networking.

We’re fortunate to also have fantastic contributors lined up for the London event at Senate House on the 26th Feb, with stories from the Universities of London, Surrey, and Hertfordshire to go with the AML/CFA update. The Sheffield event on the 5th March is also coming together – we’ll be adding one or two more enthusiastic volunteers to complement sessions from the Universities of Sheffield and Staffordshire.

If you’ve not booked onto one of the above events yet, but would like to go, then please do so soon so that we have a better idea of numbers. And remember, all of your colleagues from across professional services are very welcome, so if there are others in your institution who think may be interested, do let them know. We promise we won't force you to pose for a photo!
