Probably the best way to improve your procurement function

08 May 2019      Matt Sisson, Projects and Membership Manager

If you are looking to improve procurement in your institution, then you won’t be able to find better value than undertaking a Procurement Maturity Assessment (PMA+). Run by SUMS, which is a sector-owned consultancy (so your money stays in the sector – brilliant!), the PMA+ is a detailed assessment of a HEI’s procurement function and provides the university with a baseline to measure improvements, a bespoke action plan, and a benchmark against similar institutions.

Here’s what Neil Addison, Procurement Manager at Newcastle, thinks: “Completing successive PMA’s has given Newcastle an impetus and a defined target to ensure continuous improvement. The assessment criteria are clear and the pathway to Superior performance is mapped out. The Action Plan after each assessment ensures we prioritise our areas to improve and allows easy sharing of improvement activities across the procurement services team.”

There’s lots more information available on the SUPC website, or you can contact SUMS directly by email or on 0118 935 7081.
