Failure to Prevent Fraud (FTPF Offence) - a brief summary for HEPs

21 March 2025      Rachel Ward, Learning and Development Manager

The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA) became law in the UK in October 2023. The act created a new offence of 'failure to prevent fraud'. This Failure to Prevent Fraud (FTPF) offence will come into effect on 1 September 2025.

Working with Keith Read, a consultant on compliance, we have created a brief summary for HEPs. The summary includes:

  • An introduction to the ECCTA act and the new FTPF offence
  • Implications for HEPs
  • Key considerations for the FTPF offence
  • Planning for the Act and offence
  • Potential actions for a HEP

You can view the brief summary for HEPs here. If you have any questions, please contact Rachel.
