22 April 2024 Ashley Shelbrooke, HEPA and Project Specialist
As highlighted earlier this month, the e-learning for the Transforming Public Procurement programme is now live, as at 22 April 2024.
The Procurement Act 2023 will come into force in October this year and will create a simpler and more flexible commercial system. It will embed transparency throughout the commercial lifecycle and open up public procurement to new entrants such as small business and social enterprises.
A comprehensive learning & development programme to support and prepare those operating within the new regime has been developed - this includes an e-learning product for all procurement practitioners. This is the key learning product for the implementation of the Procurement Act 2023 - the e-learning is aimed at all operational procurement staff. This includes staff whose main role is to run tenders or let contracts, or procurement / commercial professionals whose main role is to manage suppliers or contracts.
Comprising 10 x 1 hour modules, the e-Learning covers all aspects of the new reforms, such as key regulation changes, transparency and the competitive flexible procedure.
Learners who complete the course and achieve certification will be awarded a certificate along with an e-badge for adding to email signatures, evidencing attainment at Practitioner level. The e-badge can be used to demonstrate and evidence your achievement and new proficiency. The Cabinet Office will also be publishing the full content of the modules in an extensive learning manual on gov.uk in May, and individual learning aids supporting the modules will be also available on the Government Commercial College (GCC) from May onwards. You will be fully supported in completing the course, with a vibrant Communities of Practice launching on 8 May 2024, where you can exchange knowledge and experience with other procurement / operational staff.
To access to the e-Learning modules, you will need to register with the GCC. To register for a new account with the GCC, visit www.govcommercialcollege.co.uk
We recommend setting aside 2-3 hours a week to complete the 10 modules, meaning that you can complete all 10 modules within one month. For practitioners who also plan to register, or are already registered for the Deep Dive learning product, completion of the e-learning is a prerequisite. If you experience any issues in accessing the e-learning, please contact gcftpp-busops@cabinetoffice.gov.uk
To help with communications across your HEP we are pleased to say that a flyer is available for you to utilise on noticeboards, internal comms, newsletters and so on.
Please do share this information with everybody who will be required to complete the e-learning at your HEP.
