BUFDG session on Off-Payroll Working - booking now open

Due to the changes to the existing off-payroll working rules for the HE sector, BUFDG’s own Julia Ascott will be presenting a free, 2 hour session on the rules and how they specifically affect universities.  It will also allow for open discussions and sharing information between members.

The session will cover:

  • What is an intermediary, including open discussions on how each university identifies intermediaries under the off-payroll working rules;
  • What is a contracted out service and when might it apply;
  • Gathering appropriate information, tips on what documents and information you need internally and from the worker/intermediary;
  • Assessment of their status – what’s available, what do universities use
  • Taking reasonable care – what is and isn’t reasonable care and the implications of not taking it
  • Status Determination Statements – who are you required to inform and what should an SDS look like, including a pro-forma example of an SDS but what else can you use
  • Disagreement process – guidance on what the process should look like using a pro-forma example
  • Payment – what are the requirements, what different ways do universities use when paying intermediaries who are within scope of the off-payroll working rules
  • Record keeping – requirements
